These docs count page views and a few clicks with Umami, on our own machine. Counting sets no cookie and stores nothing in your browser.

For each page view, the Umami script sends the page’s address without its query string, the page title, the address of the page you came from, your screen size and your browser’s language. The Umami server works out your browser, operating system and device type from your browser’s user agent, and your country, region and city from your IP address. It does not store the IP address.

It also counts these events:

  • A search. The words you typed into the search box, up to 100 characters, and how many results it found. It is sent once you stop typing for a moment or open a result.
  • Copied code. The page, and the title of the code block you copied, or its language.
  • Page feedback. The page, and whether you answered yes or no to “Was this page useful?”.
  • A click on a link to another site. The site’s address without the page. For a link to Sluiceway’s repository on GitHub or to its Marketplace page, the full address.

Umami counts only at the address these docs are published at, so a copy of them running anywhere else sends nothing.

Umami runs on our own machine, at analytics.robbeverhelst.be. What it counts stays there. It is not shared with anyone, and nothing leaves that machine.

Everything is kept until we delete it. Nothing deletes it automatically.

Counting sets no cookie and stores nothing in your browser.

The docs themselves keep two settings in your browser, and send neither anywhere: the colour theme you pick, in local storage, and which sidebar groups are open, in session storage, which your browser clears when you close the tab.

If your browser sends Do Not Track, the Umami script is not loaded and nothing is counted.

Visits from programs are not counted. The Umami script is not loaded and nothing is sent when your browser says it is driven by automation, when its user agent names a bot, a crawler, a spider, a headless browser or a link preview service, or when its screen is exactly 800 by 600 or 1024 by 1024 pixels, the sizes headless crawlers report.

Email robbe.verhelst@gmail.com to object, or to ask for what was counted about your visits to be deleted.
